Robert W. Casby – Medical Malpractice Law and Personal Injury Litigation Robert (Bob) Casby is well known for his in-depth preparation and courtroom agility. He brings to his practice a sharp understanding of human nature and an unrelenting focus on knowing more about a case than anyone else in the courtroom. In his 30+ years of practice, Bob has successfully tried every type of personal injury and wrongful death case. Bob joined SUGARMAN in 1982 and was named principal of the firm in 1987.

Marianne C. LeBlanc – Personal Injury Litigation Marianne LeBlanc is a trial attorney with a proven record of success in the courtroom and over two decades of experience in representing injured clients. With record-setting verdicts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Marianne’s advocacy skills draw on her commitment to making a difference both for her clients and the community at large. Marianne concentrates in all aspects of serious personal injury litigation and joined SUGARMAN in 1993 and was named principal in 1999.

Neil Sugarman – Medical Malpractice Law, Personal Injury Litigation, Product Liability Litigation Neil Sugarman, co-founder and principal, has successfully handled some of the most catastrophic explosion and fire accident cases in Massachusetts, many involving multiple victims. In addition, he has effectively argued leading appellate cases involving the expansion of personal injury law and consumer rights over the course of his extensive career. Neil’s aggressive representation of his clients, and his obsessive attention to details is known in Massachusetts legal circles and beyond. In addition to many Best Lawyers designations, Neil was named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in both 2010 and 2014.

A frequent lecturer and published writer, Neil has held executive and leadership positions with nearly every major legal association in Massachusetts. Prior to practicing law, Neil was a Captain in the U.S. Army Signal Corp and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in the Vietnam conflict.

Stephen K. Sugarman, Personal Injury Litigation Throughout the course of his legal career, Stephen Sugarman has prided himself on pursuing and litigating complex personal injury cases, many of which require painstaking investigation before a lawsuit is filed or even contemplated. In addition to his trial and arbitration practice, Stephen’s determined approach to his clients and their families has resulted in some of the firm’s most significant settlements over the past decade. He joined SUGARMAN as an associate in 1999 and became principal in 2007.

Ben R. Zimmermann, Personal Injury Litigation Ben Zimmermann’s success for clients both in and out of the courtroom is the result of his in-depth understanding of the law and trial practice, his tireless attention to detail in developing the facts of a case, and his commitment to his clients. Ben has secured some of the largest personal injury verdicts in Massachusetts for the firm’s clients. In one year alone, Ben obtained two of the ten largest personal injury/wrongful death jury verdicts in Massachusetts, including a $20.6 million verdict against Toys “R” Us for a defective pool slide in a case he tried with former SUGARMAN partner Tom Smith. He joined the firm in 2000 and became principal in 2007.
