Unilever is facing a lawsuit over its drugstore brand shampoo and conditioner, Trésemme. The lawsuit was filed in the Northern Illinois District Court. It claims that Trésemme Keratin Hair Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner can cause hair loss and scalp irritation. A preservative used in the products, DMDM hydantoin, can slowly release formaldehyde when exposed to water. Formaldehyde is known to cause cancer.

With any defective or recalled products, consumers should know their rights. How do you know if you have a product liability claim? In Massachusetts, companies can be held liable for their defective products. If a product is defective and could inflict harm, there is potential for a lawsuit. Stop using any products that may be harmful, even if you have not experienced any issues.

If you believe you have a claim, you should talk with an experienced attorney. Personal Injury attorneys can help you determine if you have a product liability claim.
