With summertime upon us and people hiking, biking and running once again, portable water is a must-have. CamelBak is a popular company manufacturing a multitude of reusable water-toting vessels, including backpacks, vests and water bottles. On June 9, 2021, Camelbak, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, voluntarily recalled caps sold with CamelBak’s Podium and Peak Fitness bottles. The popular outdoor brand discovered a small silicone piece could come loose and pose a choking hazard. So far, only 14 reports of the loose part have been received and no injuries have been reported. The recall affects about 46,000 bottles sold in the U.S. and about 13,000 in Canada. The water bottles come in a variety of colors in 17, 21- and 24-ounce sizes, with “CamelBak” and “Podium” or “Peak Fitness” written on the bottles.

What steps should you take if you own one of these water bottles?

First, check the underside of the cap for the codes H19039, H19063, or H19175. If you see one, contact CamelBak for a free replacement at 1-800-767-8725 or go to www.camelbak.com/recall. While no injuries have been reported, consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bottles and contact the seller for a free replacement.
