Rosa G. Mazzeo joined SUGARMAN in 2014 as a Paralegal while attending the evening session at Suffolk University Law School. In 2016, Rosa graduated from Suffolk University Law School and remained at SUGARMAN as an Associate.
Rosa is a fluent Spanish speaker who dedicates her free time to advocate for the Latinx community. She is part of the Hispanic National Bar Association and Chica Program, pipeline programs that aim to empower the Latinx legal professionals and students through mentorship and exposure to resourceful networks. She also volunteers at The Mountain School of Milton Academy as a member of their Advisory Board. In November 2018, she spent a week at a family detention center with The Dilley Pro Bono Project in Dilley, Texas offering legal advice to mothers who had been detained at the border with their children.
At SUGARMAN, Rosa manages a wide variety of cases ranging from construction site accidents to defective products from the claims stage up to trial. Pre-trial settlement of medical malpractice case for widow against radiologist and his medical practice. The client's fifty-seven year-old husband had undergone an abdominal CT scan relative to gastrointestinal issues. The CT scan incidentally revealed a suspicious mass in the patient’s lung which was missed by the radiologist and never reported to the patient until it was found on a subsequent scan, resulting in a delay in diagnosis of lung cancer for nearly a year and a half. He underwent a resection, but the cancer returned months later. The patient was subsequently diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer and died the following year.
Settlement on behalf of client injured when he was struck by a car while in the crosswalk on the way to the Braintree MBTA Station. The client suffered a traumatic brain injury and, together with the spouse, brought a claim against the driver for his negligence in causing the accident.
