Robert W. Casby Presents at Civil Litigation 101: Tips Tactics and Strategies for Trying Cases
September 17, 2009
Boston – Robert W. Casby, principal at Sugarman, was on the faculty of a three-part program, Civil Litigation 101: Tips Tactics and Strategies for Trying Cases, at Suffolk University Law School’s Center for Advanced Legal Studies. The program was co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and the Macaronis Institute for Trial and Appellate Advocacy.
Each session of the program focused on different phases of civil litigation beginning with Mr. Casby’s presentation entitled “Getting Started with Litigation”. Mr. Casby’s session covered initial considerations involved in taking a case; strategies for drafting both the complaint and answer; and conducting efficient and effective discovery. Later portions of the program included discussions of trial issues and trial tactics from both the attorneys’ and judges’ viewpoints. The program concluded with a panel of judges giving tips on navigating the courtroom experience.
The program was one of many similar speaking engagements for Mr. Casby in which he, along with other faculty members, shared with law students and attorneys his perspective and experiences gained in his 27 years of practice at Sugarman, a practice which has centered on the litigation and trial of personal injury cases of all types.
